Featured in this lot is an Original Signed Ron Bailey, "Swan Range Winter Camp, In The Flathead", '72, Oil on Board. The Swan Range is a mountain range in western Montana. Local Native American peoples who overwintered in the Swan included the Bitterroot Salish, Kootenai, and Pend d'Oreilles. Noted Montana artist Ron Bailey is known for Indian, landscape and wildlife painting. Ron Bailey(1943-1984) was born in Baltimore, Maryland and moved with his family to Montana in 1958. He and his brother spent their teen years working on cattle ranches in the summer and fell in love with the outdoors and the western way of life. Later they spent most of their time together fishing, hunting and hiking in the Montana wilderness. Intially taught to paint in oil by his brother, William, who was the youngest professional artist in the Flathead Valley. Ron Bailey later studied Fine Art at the University of Montana. Ron was a well known and popular artist. He was mainly known for his oil landscapes, but he also did watercolors, etchings, and sculpting and participated yearly in the C.M. Russell auction and art show. This oil on board painting is rich in warm colours and details. The silver gilt double matted rustic hardwood professionally framed oil on board is in very fine condition, no marring noted to the art, frame is also in in very good condition without marring.
