Presented in this lot is "Round The Wonderful World", by G. E. Mitton, Thomas Nelson and Sons publishers New York. Original publishing 1914 but this is an American publishing without printing date. Previous owner's inscription is dated Dec. 12, 1929. Geraldine Edith Mitton (14 October 1868 – 25 March 1955), pen name G. E. Mitton, was an English novelist, biographer, editor, and guide-book writer. This book follows the author through travels across several continents.12 full page colour illustrations & 120 ink illustrations by A. S. Forest & an illustrated 'front board'. A children's travel book, told as a meandering walk across various countries and cities of the world. Some of the locations mentioned are Jerusalem, India, France, and many more. Follows Mitton's travels from England across Europe, down through Egypt and Israel and across Asia to Japan, and eventually Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada before her slow journey across Canada to Montreal and the return voyage to Liverpool, England. With all the perspectives one would expect to hear from a British traveler in the early years of the twentieth century, Mitton respectfully describes the many ethnicities, peoples she encountered. This blue cloth bound gold gilt hardcover book is in good overall condition, scuffing noted to cover edges. Intact pages exhibit age tanning, foxing not noted. No other obvious marring exhibited, measures 5.75"W x 8"L x 1.5"D
