Included in this lot is a Royal Irish Dragoon Guards Calvary Bit. The Dragoon Guards was the designation used to refer to certain heavy cavalry regiments in the British Army. The 4th Royal Irish Dragoon Guards was a cavalry regiment in the British Army, first raised in 1685 as the Earl of Arran's Regiment of Cuirassiers. This bit features a heavy forged steel construction and large decorative brass piece on the cheeks. The brass piece is marked Royal Irish Dragoon Guards and showcases a stylized crown over the marked medallion. The bit is also marked "Sowter ... Market." The bit measures 6 1/2" x 3 1/4" x 8 1/8".
