For your consideration is this first edition of, "Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám - The First and Fourth Rendering In English Verse" by Edward FitzGerald, with illustrations by Willy Pogany and published by George G. Harrap & Co. LTD. in London 1934. This edition, which was likely created as a deluxe or fine press edition by George G. Harrap & Co., a publisher renowned for its finely illustrated works, is professionaly bound in full red morocco leather with elaborate gilded ornamentation. Willy Pogany, a Hungarian-born artist whose work is widely renowned for his flowing, Art Nouveau-inspired style, illustrated the book. Pogany's work on Rubáiyát is one of the most renowned, and he was well-known for his illustrated versions of classical and mythological classics. Stunning black-and-white images, a full-color plate, and elaborate ornamental features all complement the poetry in this book. The book shows good condition overall with little wear present to the cover and interior pages. No major signs of damage are noted. It measures 10 1/8" L x 7 3/4" W x 3/4" D and weighs 1 pound and 10 ounces.
