Presented in this lot is a Rare Original Russell Chatham Stone Lithograph, "Winter Snowfall" aka "Yellowstone River Winter", Artist's Proof, Signed, 1990. This is one of his highly sought-after stone lithographs, created as part of his acclaimed three-piece Yellowstone River Suite. This lithograph depicts a serene, heavily overcast snowy day in Montana, where scattered evergreen trees subtly break up a sweeping, soft-focused white landscape. To achieve this blending of land and sky—locally nicknamed a "Russell Chatham Day"—the artist printed using an offset lithography press, layer-by-layer, manually drawing onto as many as 40 individual plates to develop the rich, diffuse color harmony. Legendary American Western artist Russell Chatham (1939–2019) was known for his tonalist style, Chatham captured the deeply haunting, muted glow of changing evening light over Western waters. Chatham utilized a meticulous, pioneering printmaking process that required anywhere from 30 to 50 distinct layers of color and hand-drawn plates. He hand-pulled his prints using complex color shifts, capturing an "optical vibrancy" that mimics subtle changes in seasonal weather and twilight. This beautiful, impressive and rare original stone lithograph is in very nice condition, light scuffing on frame. Visible art measures 22"W x 26"L, frame is 33"W x 37"L x 1.125"D. Combined weight is
