For your consideration are two cobalt blue Russian trade glass bead strands, circa 1800s, and a Garnet faceted trade bead necklace. These beautiful pieces show a faceted glass trade bead originally traded by the Russians to the Alaska Natives in exchange for Sea Otter pelts or anything else they might want. The beads were a desirable form of currency.
There are two cobalt strands, one with small beads and the other with a medium size beads. The medium bead strand show 50 deep blue cobalt glass beads on a waxed twin strand, and the smaller shows 112 beads on a blue cotton strand. Also in this lot is a small Garnet faceted trade bead necklace showing a strand of 135 deep reddish black beads. All three strands show in good condition with some small wear on a few beads consistent with age and use. These necklaces measure approximately 17", 10.5", 14.5" in strung length.
