Featured in this lot is a Santa Clara Pueblo pottery vessel by potter, Mida Tafoya, born in 1931. The pottery vessel features a wonderfully and professionally crafted black on black ceramic construction that shows carved decoration with geometric patterns with deep grooves and is signed on the bottom of the vessel as follows: Mida Tafoya. Santa Clara Pueblo artist, Mida Tafoya, began making pottery in 1945. Like many pueblo potters, she was taught by her family members in the ancient art. Mida Tafoya (1931 - ) is a member of the famous Tafoya family of Santa Clara Pueblo. Her mother was Christina Naranjo, and her grandmother was Sara Fina Tafoya. She is the niece of Margaret Tafoya. The condition of this Santa Clara Pueblo pottery is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. The measurements of this pottery vessel are 3 7/8" x 4 1/4" x 4 1/4". The collective weight of this pottery vessel is 1lb.*
