Featured in this lot is a Blackfeet beaded hide moccasins, circa 1890-1910. The moccasins feature a wonderfully and professionally crafted hide with a Parfleche soles and a trade seed bead construction. The trade seed beads include: chalk white, translucent red, and translucent green construction and shows a split fork tongue. Blackfeet Indian moccasins are a significant cultural artifact, reflecting the craftsmanship, artistry, and practical needs of the Blackfeet Nation, a Native American tribe primarily based in Montana, USA, and parts of Canada. These moccasins were traditionally made from soft, durable materials like deer, elk, or buffalo hide, ensuring both comfort and protection against the rugged terrain of the Northern Plains. The condition of this pair of moccasins is preserved with a heavy patina adorning the hide with a rip in the heel and the sole of the left moccasin, but otherwise they are well preserved for their age. The measurements of this pair of moccasins are 1 3/8" x 7 1/8" x 3 1/2". The collective weight of this pair of moccasins is U4oz.*
