or your consideration is an Original Signed Santo Domingo Pueblo Sterling Silver Men's Ring, size 12, by noted artist Roderick Tenorio, Kewa. Reverse with artist hallmark stamp "RMT" and sterling stamp 925. Roderick Tenorio (1955 - 2013) was an award winning Santo Domingo artist. A 1981 graduate of the Institute of American Indian Arts, Roderick was accomplished in sculpture, painting and music. Roderick’s unique symbolic interpretation and high degree of detail earned him jewelry awards at Santa Fe Indian Market, Eight Northern Indian Pueblos Show, the New Mexico State Fair, and the Gallup Inter-Tribal Ceremonials, including the prestigious “Best of Show”. The ring has a central bear facing right while a snake is crawling across the bear towards the left. The snake and lightning or lightning arrow are considered by the native Southwesterner to be a single element as they are the same visual form. among the Pueblo Indians snakes and lightning are equated with and symbolize rain, hence, fertility. The bear symbolizes courage, physical strength and leadership. This original Roderick Tenorio men's ring is in good overall condition, no marring noted. Total weight 8.9 gms.
