For your consideration is a scarce early production Merwin Hulbert & Company .38 caliber spur trigger revolver. It is estimated that a few thousand of these early production Merwin Hulbert spur trigger revolvers were produced (circa late 1870s). The revolver has an exposed cylinder pin, scoop cylinder flutes, recoil shield on right side of the frame with a semi-circular scooped out area to allow for loading cartridges, 3 1/2 inch barrel, and square butt, all features of the earliest production models. The barrel rib has the two-line Hopkins & Allen address/patent dates reading, the two line Merwin Hulbert address on the left side of the frame reading “Merwin Hulbert & Co. New York U.S.A.” and "38 CAL." on the right side of the frame. Serial number on the butt, with the cylinder marked "1026". Fitted with checkered dog head embossed grips. Serial Number: 1912. This firearm qualifies as an Antique, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
