In this lot is an original framed Albert Schlechten photograph of Hyalite Lake in the Gallatin Mountain Range of Southwest Montana. Title of the photograph with photographer's name is written on the lower right corner of the face, most likely a "contact print from the original 11x14 glass plate negative", undated though most of his photographs were taken prior to 1922 and hand-coloured soon afterwards by either his nephew Chris, or Chris' wife Pauline. The Schlechten brothers, Albert and Alfred, were originally from Switzerland; they opened a photography studio in Bozeman in 1900, were noted for their photographs of Gallatin County, Bozeman, and Yellowstone National Park. This photograph, taken over 100 years ago, is an intriguing window into a quieter past of the now familiar and heavily travelled Gallatin Mountain Range. The framed photograph shows good condition, rear paper attached to the wood frame is torn in multiple areas, measures 14.5"L x 11.5"W
