The lot features a custom Sharps Model 1874 .45-70 single-shot, falling-block, breech-loading rifle designed originally by Christian Sharps and this rifle manufactured in Italy by Armsport in a custom oak and brass finished carrying display travel case. The rifle is a very high-quality handmade example fitted with fully functioning adjustable double set triggers, a 28-inch heavy full octagon barrel, receiver with beautiful color case hardening as is the case hardened butt plate all with a deluxe walnut hardwood stock with fancier grain, an upgrade over the standard grain structure. The barrel is attractively finished in brown, there are folding adjustable rear sight with Rocky Mountain blade front sights on the rifle. The upper tang is factory drilled and tapped for tang sight mounting. Comes in a foam lined, well-built oak display or travel case fitted with a full length hinge, brass corners and brass hasps that will accept padlocks. It is marked “Armsport Inc, Miami, Florida Made in Italy” etc. The rifle and case weigh 22lbs 10oz with the rifle weighing 9lbs.
