For your consideration is this pair of Shuron surgeon or jewelers magnified glasses with 1/10 12k gold-filled rims circa 1890-20s. These glasses show a thin 1/10 12k gold filled frame that the magnified lenses are attached to with a significant magnification almost telescopic in nature. The glasses show hard composite nose rests with lenses that are an inch thick.
In 1865, Shuron established a lens and frame manufacturing facility in Geneva, NY. It has survived three centuries and has a rich history; in the 1920s, it was the principal source of optical materials and machinery for independent and wholesale laboratories, and in WWII, it provided mobile optical units to US Army forces. The condition of this pair of Shuron glasses is good with some slight patina to the frame but otherwise shows a good overall condition.
