The lot features a solid catalinite pipestone pipe bowl with fantastic Bear Effigy carving from the Sioux Native American Indians of the Plains, dating to circa 1930’s. The solid red pipestone catlinite bowl shows the shape of a Bear head with rich, dark red coloring and dark black patina throughout. The stem connection is at the back of the Bear’s neck and the bowl, with tapering hand drilled ground walls at the Bear’s head. This is truly a fantastic, highly figure effigy pipe with nice, early Reservation age. Provenance: From a private collection of early American and Native American antiquities in Iowa. Measures overall 2.5” L by 1.75”H by 1 1/8” W.
