This is an excellent bowl and pipe stem from the Sioux Native American Indians of the Plains, dating to circa 1950’s-. The piece features a solid carved pipestone catalinite elbow pipe bowl with full Bear body effigy. The bowl has a curved base and bowl with dark red coloring. The stem is solid wood with a file rasp burned finish at the outside edge and brass covered metal tacks at the top with a tied sinew wrapping. The stem has a dark brown coloring. Overall, the two together have a nice dark coloring and wonderful display. Provenance: From a private collection of early American and Native American antiquities in Iowa. Measures overall together 26.5” L with the bowl being 4 5/8” L by 3.25”H by 1.25” W.
