Featured in this lot is this portfolio called "Sioux Indian Painting: Part I editions d'Art C. Szwedzicki circa 1938. The portfolio features a wonderfully and professionally crafted construction and includes the following artists work: Kills Two (Nupa Kte), Oglala Sioux; Amos Bad Heart Buffalo (Tatanka Cante Sice), Oglala Sioux; Pretty Hawk, Yankton Sioux; Unknown Mandan, Chief Washalie, Wind River Shoshone; Unknown Shoshone; Silver Horn (Haun-goo-ah), Kiowa. The portfolio includes a total of 25 plates that include pictures of numerous painted hides and ledger art throughout. Szwedzicki, a publisher in Nice, France, produced six portfolios of North American Indian art. The publications were edited by American scholars Oscar Brousse Jacobson, Hartley Burr Alexander and Kenneth Milton Chapman. The condition of this of this painting portfolio is good with some wear to the outside of the ledger portfolio but otherwise shows good overall well preserved condition. The measurements of this ledger painting portfolio is 20" x 15 1/2".
