Featured in this lot is this rare, original photo of Sioux tribe members posing for a photo at the Standing Rock Reservation, also known as the Cannon Ball, in North Dakota circa 1928. Provenance: From the John Kleinschmidt collection which was on loan to the C.M. Russell Museum from 1987 to 1993 and included in the "The Cowboy West: 100 Years of Photography 1992-1993 exhibit. The photo shows a group of Native American men and women of the Sioux tribe posing for a photo on the Standing Rock Reservation. The men are wearing large headdresses and kneeling in the front row, while the women stand behind them. Posted on the photo is a piece of paper with type written names of the men and women in the photo. Some of the men listed are Eagle Staff, Iron Road, Red Fish, Follows The Road and Many Horses, while some of the women listed are Thunder Hawk, Red Bean, Wise Spirit, Ireland and White Lightning. The photo features the original museum tag from the C.M. Russell Museum in Great Falls, Montana reading, "1396-87 O'Dell". The photo shows good condition overall with little to no wear present on the photo. The visible photo measures 7 1/2" L x 9 3/8" W, while the entire piece measures 8 1/4" L x 10 1/8" W x 5/8" D. It weighs 10 ounces.
