The lot features a fine pewter inlaid steatite “T” pipe with wood stem, attributed to the Sioux Native American Indians in South Dakota. The pipe bowl, a fine 19th Century example, is constructed of black Minnesota pipe stone, called “Steatite”, and has artful geometric pewter inlays at the smoking tip connection, smoking bowl, and tip. The pipe is partnered with a wood stem that has four-sided, diamond-like patterns and a slight taper and is adorned with hot file brandings. At the center of the wood stem are brass trade tacks holding old trade cloth strips. The pipe shows no apparent breaks or repairs overall and displays good condition. The pipe bowl measures 6 ½ inches long by 3 ½ inches tall. The stem is 28 inches long from tip to tip and overall connected together measures 33 ½ inches long.
