The lot features an Indian tanned hide pictorial painted model tipi from the Sioux Indians dating to circa early-to-mid-1900's. The model tipi shows a thick Buffalo Bison Indian tanned hide with stripped and carved wood twig tipi poles tied with hide lacing. Along the entire outside surface the model shows a beautiful pictorial painted scene in classic Sioux Ledge like pattern showing a Buffalo Bison hunt scene with several running Buffalo and Indian Warriors on horseback done in colors of blues, reds, yellows, and greens with black outlines. Some of the hide lacing has been replaced over the years. Tipi models, also referred to as tepee models, dated primarily to the early to mid Indian Reservation period with this example being very similar to other examples such as the Lakota Sioux 19th Century model sold by Brian Lebel's in 2012 for $9,075 (w/ bp) and the Sioux 1890-1900 examples sold by our company in 2019 for $2,706 (w/ bp). The piece can be folded out flat for display or rolled up and staged as a tipi. Measures when laid out flat 32"W by 24"H.
