Presented in this lot is a Vintage Sioux Tribal Police Brass Badge, circa 1930s-. The badge is stamped on reverse, 'LA STAMP & STSTY. CO.' The Los Angeles Stamp & Stationery Company started as the Los Angeles Rubber Stamp Company in the early 1900s. It manufactured business and advertising tokens, badges, and other stamped metal products. The company also manufactured imitation coins used in motion pictures or movie prop coins. The name was changed in 1935 and closed in 1964. The company made badges for police departments throughout California during that time. The six-point brass badge has a central raised five-point gold star bordered by a stenciled edge against a round polished background which sits against the badge textured background. Upper banner is marked 'SIOUX', lower banner is 'TRIBAL POLICE'. Bottom center triangle point is marked '7'. This piece of Western history is in very nice condition, rich patina observed throughout back clasp is missing. Measures 2.875" diameter.
