For your consideration are three Smokey The Bear transit advertisement cardstock posters circa 1962-1965. These advertisements were intended for use in buses, trains and trolleys and each reads "A Public Service Of Transit Advertising" at the bottom. The first in this collection shows three baby bears holding up chalk boards with different sayings. The bottom reads, "Please! Only You Can Prevent Forest Fires" and shows Smokey's head at the bottom. The second poster depicts Smokey showing some younger bears the beautiful lake scene with large letters over the lake reading, "Be My Guest, But Please... Only You Can Prevent Forest Fires!". The third and final poster in this lot shows two deer standing next to each other while a stream of smoke drifts past their noses. The poster reads, "Before You Start Any Fire: Please!.. Follow Local Regulations / Be Sure Fire Can't Spread / Don't Burn On Dry, Windy Days / And Never Leave Fire Unattended". The bottom of the poster reads, "Only You Can Prevent Forest Fires". The posters show good condition overall with wear from their age and use over the years showing some bent corners and wear to the edges, but no signs of obvious damage is present. One poster shows a small section torn out from the bottom. The posters measure 10 15/16" L x 28" W.
