For your consideration is a Handcrafted Strike-A-Light Display Frame LD Burke (1934-2014) from Santa Fe, New Mexico. Burke was well known for his colorful furniture and architecture. This piece has a burled wood frame around a display board used to hang items. There are what appears to be nails hammered into the top of the board spelling "Strike A Light" indicating it would have been built to hang pouches of flint and strikers. The frame has been painted a vibrant red, but still shows the natural wood on the display board. There is a small builder's identification plaque on the side indicating "2365 © L.D. Burke III Santa Fe USA" Burke was born in Norwood, Mass., and grew up in that state and in Maine. He earned a fine-arts degree from Colby College in Maine and was a successful graphic designer for many years in Chicago and San Francisco, then worked in suburban development in Houston before coming to Santa Fe in the early 1980s. The board measures approximately 22 1/2 x 29 1/2".
