For your consideration is this Sunoco Mercury Made Motor Oil from Sunoco in 1946. Sunoco's history stretches back to 1886, when it was founded as The Peoples Natural Gas Company. The company diversified into oil and gas, becoming Sun Oil Company of Ohio in 1890. It then became Sun Company, Inc., and then Sunoco, Inc. Sunoco has been a key player in the petroleum sector, refining, distributing, and marketing oil products, as well as a major supporter of motorsports. This five gallon motor oil canister shows a blue and yellow color scheme and reads, "Five U.S. Gallons / 18.926 Liters / SAE-30 Sunoco Reg. U.S. Pat. Off. / Copyright 1946 Sun Oil Co. / Mercury Made Motor Oil / Sun Oil Company / Philadelphia, PA., U.S.A.". The top shows a nozzle with two sizes of spouts and a spot for filling the canister up. A swinging wood handle is attached to the top for easy carrying. It shows good condition overall with wear present from its age and use over the years, but no major signs of damage is noted. It measures 11 1/2" L x 11 1/2" W x 17" H and weighs 3 pounds and 14 ounces.
