Featured in this lot is a beautiful Persian Tabriz, fine, handwoven, wool runner rug. The rug features a fine detailed design, bright colors, and a tight weave. A Tabriz rug/carpet is a type of rug in the general category of Persian carpets from the city of Tabriz, which is the capital city of East Azarbaijan Province, northwest of Iran, and is totally populated by Azerbaijanis. It is one of the oldest rug weaving centers and makes a wide diversity of carpet types. Tabriz has one of the most diverse displays of designs from medallion and Herati/Mahi to figural, pictorial, and even 3-d shaped rugs. The rug shows good condition overall, with some light wear due to age. The rug measures 3' 7" wide by 9' 4" long.
