This is a Tairona gold effigy pendant from 200-1600 CE. The Tairona were a civilization in northern Colombia known for their metallurgy and agriculture. This pendant is a wonderful depiction of two snakes and a turtle that has been hand crafted from gold of unknown content. The piece shows fine detail and advanced goldsmith technique for the time. The Tairona effigy pendant is in good condition. It measures 1" x 1.5". It weighs 13.2 grams.
