This is an early edition of "The Book of the American Indian" by Hamlin Garland, published in 1923. Hannibal Hamlin Garland (1860-1940) was an American novelist, short story writer, poet, psychical researcher, and essayist. Garland is known for his collection of western short stories. The book contains numerous Native American short stories and tales. The stories are accompanied by 35 illustrations by Frederic Remington, with a combination of black and white and full color pieces. Frederic Sackrider Remington (1861–1909) was an American painter, illustrator, sculptor, and writer who specialized in depictions of the American Old West. His works are known for depicting the Western United States in the last quarter of the 19th century and featuring such images as cowboys, American Indians, and the US Cavalry. The book shows good condition overall, with some light wear across the cover. The piece measures 12 1/2" tall by 9 1/4" wide and 1 1/2" thick.
