Holling Clancy Holling (born Holling Allison Clancy, August 2, 1900 – September 7, 1973) was an American writer and illustrator, best known for the book, "Paddle-to-the-Sea", which was a Caldecott Honor Book in 1942, a Lewis CarrollShelf Award in 1962 and in 1966, an Oscar nominated short film "Paddle to the Sea" was based on his book. "The Book of Cowboys" is a visual feast as well as an informational book on cowboys, written for young people. Each page margin is filled with illustrations depicting scenes of cowboy life, cowboy equipment, illustrations of animal anatomy and cowboy techniques, and more. Also included are full colour plates and sepia illustrations which depict the west in all its glory. Maps of an illustrated USA on endpapers. Stamped cover illustration of cowboy on bucking horse.
