Offered in this lot we have "The Pride of Texas" bronze statue by George Gardet. Gardet, born October 11th 1863, was a French Sculptor and animalier, known for his life like sculptures of animals and wild life. He created many great works in his life, including "Drama of the desert" displayed in the Parc Montsouris in Paris France, the lions at the Jardin du Luxembourg and the lions on the Pont Alexandre III, both in Paris. He passed away on February 6th 1939. This sculpture features a well sculpted Texas longhorn walking forward on bronze ground with its head up showing a impressive rack of horns. The statue is set on a black marble base and the ground is marked "Elwell" near the back legs. The statue is in good condition overall, showing no signs of damage or repair. The statue measures 23" long by 11" at its widest, the base is 18" long by 9 1/4" wide.
