Featured in this lot is this The Tombstone Epitaph: Oct. 25, 1881; Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. This newspaper is a unique piece of Tombstone history being the dated events of the bay before the historic shootout at the O.K. Corral. This newspaper would have been distributed and read the day before the shootout which would happen on Oct. 26, 1881 at around 3pm. There is an article depicting an escape of three prisoners from the county jail in broad daylight with whom the Earp brothers mobilized to track the escapee's down with no luck, the search party returned late into the evening of the 25th. The condition of this The Tombstone Epitaph newspaper is good with some natural tears in the paper due to age and shows browning to the pages consistent with age. The measurements of this framed newspaper is 27 1/2" x 37 1/4" and the visible newspaper measures 23 7/8" x 33 5/8". The collective weight of this framed newspaper is 11lb 4oz.
