For your consideration is this rare Fourth Edition of "The Yellowstone", the quintessential and comprehensive guide to America's first National Park. Written by Hiram Martin Chittenden (1858-1917), Civil Engineer and leading historian of the American West, this book is a must-read for anyone interested in our first National Park. Written only twenty one years after The Hayden's Expedition of 1871, this is the first formal account of Yellowstone, with a flavor of its early time. This book provides great insight into the perspective of that time with captivating stories of early explorers (Coulter, Bridger, Catlin) who are now part of America's historical culture. In this "revised and enlarged" Fourth Edition, "the 'Tour of the Park' has been entirely recast to conform to the completed road system which has opened up new sections of the Park." It is an enjoyable read, and will greatly enhance anyone's visit to any National Park and especially, Yellowstone, the World's First National Park. It is in good condition and is complete with the folding map in the back of the book. The book measures 5.5" x 7.75". The folding map measures 9.5" x 14".
