For your consideration is this 1911, Rare First Edition of “Thrilling Lives Of Buffalo Bill and Pawnee Bill” by Frank Winch. The later editions, the second and third, for instance, are stated as such. This is account of the lives of Buffalo Bill, also known as Colonel Wm. F. Cody and Last of the Great Scouts, and Pawnee Bill, also known as Major Gordon W. Little and White Chief of the Pawnees, a biography of both of these Western legends written by their publicity agent. This is a compilation of the adventures of these two gentlemen, showing frontispiece portraits of the two along with 27 other illustrations and numerous drawings throughout. This book was the basis for a movie called Buffalo Bill which was released in 1944, starring Joel McCrea and Maureen O'Hara. Frank Winch is credited for providing the story. These were the showmen ... and the scouts, hunters, ranchers ... true entrepreneurs of an era gone by. Col. William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody and Maj. Gordon W. "Pawnee Bill" Lillie. Friends, cohorts, rivals, and more colorful than the era that spawned them. This book is in overall good condition, the blue cloth stamped cover has depictions of both Buffalo Bill and Pawnee Bill in the center of the front cover, an Indian war shield is depicted on the upper left corner. The cover is in amazingly good condition for being over one hundred years old, slight scuffing noted on its edges, spine title is fading, light soiling noted. Intact pages exhibit age tanning and foxing, onionskin separating frontispiece illustrations is torn. No other obvious marring is noted. Measurements are 5"W x 7.5"L x 1"D
