For your consideration is this signed, first edition of, "Through the Grand Canyon from Wyoming to Mexico" written by Ellsworth L. Kolb in 1915. This book has an inscription on the inside reading, "Yours very truly Emery L. Kolb Aug 3, 1917". During the fall and winter of 1911–12, the brothers Ellsworth and Emery Kolb rowed down the Green and Colorado Rivers through the Grand Canyon. Amazingly, they brought a (then new technology) motion-picture camera along for the ride and became the first to record the Grand Canyon on film. The resulting movie was shown at the Grand Canyon for some sixty years after, and Ellsworth Kolb wrote an account of the adventure in "Through the Grand Canyon from Wyoming to Mexico" in 1914. The book features various black and white photos throughout and a colored photo near the front of the book. The story tells how the Kolb brothers persevered through multiple mishaps and fickle weather during their remarkable journey. Their story is one of the classic adventure tales of the American West. The blue cloth bound gold gilt embossed book is in good overall condition, slight scuffing to the cover edges, but no major signs of damage noted. The book measures 8 1/8" L x 6" W x 1 1/2" D and weighs 1 pound and 10 ounces.
