For your consideration is this beautiful and rare, limited edition giclée canvas print done by renowned Montana artist Ralph Tom Gilleon (1942-Present) circa 1990-2000s. Tom Gilleon was born in Gainesville, Florida, in 1942. His parents, who were raising three children, including an older sister with polio, sent him to live in the country with his grandparents near Starke, Florida. In a home without electricity, nighttime entertainment consisted of sketching and storytelling by kerosene lamps. Tom began to draw by learning from his immigrant grandpa, a skilled artist and cabinetmaker from Scotland. Tom grew up surrounded by acres of tall woods and a yard of white sand—an endless blank canvas on which to draw. It was then that Tom's artistic career began. He made hundreds of sketches with a stick on the sand. Tom would eventually combine these teachings with his mastery of luminosity, color, and visual narrative, which he had learned from some of America's best artists while working as an illustrator for Disney. His affinity for the American West, however, was what ultimately inspired his fine art career, giving rise to his world-renowned Contemporary Art style. The print depicts a large teepee at sunset as a golden color is cast over the background of rolling plains and the teepee in the foreground. The print is signed on the bottom in pencil reading, "R. Tom Gilleon" and is numbered with the limited edition number in pencil reading, "114/250". The piece shows good condition overall with no wear or damage present to the artwork or frame. The visible art measures 14 9/16" L x 14 1/2" W, while the entire piece measures 22 1/16" L x 22" W x 7/8" D. It weighs 5 pounds and 2 ounces.
