The dental lamp is wonderfully and professionally crafted with a blue colored glass basin and a brass stem with a long unused wick inside, the lamp sits on a rotating iron base that allows the bulbous lamp to be manipulated to increase light at different angles. The glass is marked as follows: PAT'D Sep 14th 1880 and March 14th 1893. The two part base is marked on the circular foot housing as follows: Buffalo, NY Dental MFG Co. The Buffalo Dental Manufacturing Company, founded in the mid-19th century in Buffalo, New York, was a prominent supplier of dental equipment and tools during the expansion of medical and dental practices across the United States. By the late 1800s, even remote frontier towns like Tombstone, Arizona Territory, had limited but growing access to such specialized products. Dentists operating in Tombstone (often doubling as barbers or general medical practitioners) could obtain Buffalo Dental tools through mail-order catalogs and supply shipments brought in by stagecoach or rail. These instruments, including foot-powered drills and tooth extractors, brought a level of modernity and professionalism to dental care in the rugged mining town, reflecting the broader spread of industrial goods into the American West. The condition of this alcohol lamp is well preserved and seemingly unused with no obvious signs of damage to the lamp with some slight patina adorning the base but otherwise shows a well preserved condition. The measurements of this lamp is 8 1/2" x 4 1/2" x 3 1/2". The collective weight of this lamp is 14oz.
