Featured in this lot is this Tombstone, Arizona Territory wooden mercantile shipping crates circa 19th century and were displayed int he Tombstone Western heritage Museum; Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. There are three mercantile crates in this collection all dated from the 19th century. The first is the smallest and is an ammunition shipping crate for the Western Cartridge Co. and reads on the sidewalling as follows: All standard sizes drop and chilled shot manufactured by Western Cartridge Co. East Alton, Ill. U.S.A. - 100 packages Air Rifle Shot. The next shipping crate is a Carter's Ink Co. crate used to house and ship ink cartridges and photo paste and reads on the sidewalling as follows: Carter's 30oz 157 1 1/2oz cone Photolibrary paste - Glass with care Carter's Products. The last shipping crate is an Esco Ra-Co Embalming fluid shipping crate from the Embalmers Supply Co. and reads on the sidewalling as follows: Esco Ra-Co Embalming Fluid Manufactured by The Embalmers' Supply Co. Westport, Conneticut. The condition of this collection of shipping crates is well preserved with some wear to the wooden frames of the crates and wear to the advertisements shown on the side walling. The measurements of these crates ranges from 4 1/2" x 10" x 7 3/8" to 9 1/8" x 12 1/4" x 18 3/4". The collective weight of these shipping crates is 8lb 12oz.
