Featured in this lot is this ore mining bucket from The Mine & Smelter Supply Co. used at the Tombstone Mining and Milling Company in Tombstone, Arizona Territory circa 1870-1880's; Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. This ore mining bucket features a wonderfully and professionally crafted iron construction that shows a study design with reinforced bottom from repairs and shows a twisted handle for easy moving with a gaff or cart. This bucket was found in the Tombstone area, there was examples of ore buckets like this throughout Tombstone due to the Silver boom of the 19th century and was found and displayed in the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum. The bucket has the official plaque on the front that reads as follows: The Mines & Smelter Supply Co. El Paso, Denver, & Salt Lake City. The Mine and Smelter Supply Co. was a prominent mining and smelting machinery and supply company, with branches across the Rocky Mountain region and the City of Mexico. They were considered the largest company of their kind, focusing exclusively on mining and smelting needs. Their general offices were located in New York City. The condition of this ore bucket shows major ear and repairs to the bucket with heavy oxidation due to age and exposure to the elements. The measurements of this ore bucket is 17 1/2" x 18 1/8" x 22 1/2". The collective weight of this ore bucket is 28lb 14oz.
