Featured in this lot is are two pre-1977 Hongni Shuiping teapots and cup set by Yixing Factory 1. Starting in 1966, the Cultural Revolution led Factory No. 1 to begin to produce utilitarian pots in a style known as, shui ping hu in vast numbers. Instead of having the name of the craftsman who made the pot on the bottom, these pots had characters that represented Yixing. During this time, the factory walls were filled with slogans painted in red that insisted that art was for the people and not for self-aggrandizement. The two teapots feature lids with a small steam hole on the very top, circular handles, and a filtered pouring spout. The taller of the teapots is in a Shui Ping style and the shorter one is a Bian Fu. The two teapots come with 5 small serving cups made of red clay and lined on the inside with white porcelain. Overall the teapots and serving cups are in good condition. The teapots show no signs of chips, cracks or obvious damage. One serving cup has a small chip and crack, but the rest remain in good condition. The taller teapot measures 4" L x 2 1/2" W x 2 1/4" H, while the shorter measures 3 3/4" L x 2 1/2" W x 2" H. The serving cups measure 2" diameter and 1 1/4" height.
