Featured in this lot is this shipping inspection fee or payout for 3000 head of Mother cows and feeder steers shipped from El Paso to Nogales circa 1886; Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. This is a payment for the shipping of cattle from El Paso to Nogales, where a U.S. Customs gateway resides and teh amount reflects payment for the service of "Brand Inspection" or "Shipping Fee" for approximately 3000 head of cattle. Uniquely the check is signed by the clerk as follows: Clerk Cochise County Bank. The check includes figures for the subtraction of some fee for services totaling $24.00 on the right side of the check. The check comes complete with an original museum tag that reads as follows: 1886 - "3M M/s ship from El Paso to Slaughter at Nogales". The condition of this Bank of Tucson check is well preserved with no obvious signs of damage some browning to the pages consistent with age but otherwise shows a well preserved condition. The measurements of this check is 2 7/8" x 7 7/8". LO-2
