Lot containing one U.S. issue Model 1904 “Hospital Bolo” knife and three (3) Model 1873 U.S. issue bayonets for the famed .45-70 Trapdoor Springfield rifle. The Model 1904 Bolo with rounded blade is stamped on the right side of the blade in front of the brass guard “U S” over the serial number 16257. The left side is stamped “S A” over flaming bomb stamp and the date “1910.” The S A stands for Springfield Armory. It comes with a very heavy, metal reinforced black leather sheath in fine condition. Walnut handle with finger grooves is excellent. The 12” blade shows light use and is bright. These were used as entrenching tools as well as close combat weapons. The three bayonets are in uncleaned and as issued used condition. All are U.S. marked. The knife and bayonet weigh 4lbs 8oz.
