Featured in this lot we have a U.S. Springfield model 1873 trapdoor bayonet and scabbard. The model 1873 bayonet and scabbard was made for the iconic Indian Wars and Spanish American War Trapdoor Springfield Rifle, caliber .45-70 that was in service from 1873 up until the end of the 19th century. The scabbard is of metal construction with the leather belt loop scabbard with the brass "US" insignia intact. The leather is marked with "149". This example is in good condition overall, with wear and discoloration on the scabbard, the bayonet has a little wear. The bayonet measures 21" long by 1" wide.
