Featured in this lot is this WWII USN MKI machete and two custom leather El Salvador sheaths circa 1944-1950's. This machete is a highly collectible tool of war that was meant to help in jungle warfare the U.S. engaged in during WWII in the pacific theater. The two custom leather sheaths are shown in a consistent traditional style of south american machete sheaths with "El Salvador carved into the large sheath and show tassel decoration to the top and sides of the sheaths. The USN machete is marked as follows: U.S.N. MK-1 with a Legitimus hallmark Collins & Co 1944. The condition of this of this machete and sheaths is preserved with the UDN canvas sheath ripped at the tip and a patina adorning the leather sheaths but otherwise shows a preserved condition. The measurements of this machete is 31 1/2" and the leather sheaths measure 24 3/4" x 2 7/8" and 17 3/4" x 2 3/4". The collective weight of this lot is 3lb 4oz.
