For your consideration is a Vintage Afghan Uzbek Kargahi Handmade Wool Rug. Woven by skilled Uzbek Afghan weavers, these rugs are hand knotted using locally handspun wool with vegetable dyes to achieve a beautiful variety of colours and shades. Uzbek carpet decoration is mainly connected with shamanistic (Tengrian) benevolent symbolism. The designs are inspired by Uzbek and Kazak styles, motifs of ram's horn (kocboynuzu), hook (cengel), eye (goz), and, grain (tahil) are found in lush colours of red, dark blue, green, yellow, brown, and cream. Fringe at either end are greyish blue. Lengthwise borders are black, widthwise the borders alternate in colours of blue, yellow, red, and green. Centre medallions are bordered by triple-banded borders of geometric and motif designs. This stunning rug features natural dye colours, traditional craftsmanship, for which the images link historical Afghan nomads to their past. The overall condition of this Afghan Uzbek Kargahi wool rug is good with no obvious signs of damage. The measurements of this Afghan rug are approximately 33"W x 54"L.
