For your consideration is this vintage, Golden Dawn Polar Star 100% Wool blanket from JC Penney, circa 1940s to 1960s. In the style of the classic Hudson's Bay Company Trade blankets, this vintage JC Penney wool blanket features a traditional design of a cream field with horizontal stripes of red, yellow, black and green at both vertical ends. Hudson's Bay blankets, characterized by their distinctive stripes, have a rich history interwoven with the fur trade and colonialism in Canada. Originally traded by the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) starting in the 1780s, these wool blankets were a key trade item, often exchanged for beaver pelts and other goods. Golden Dawn Polar Star blankets were known for their quality, warmth and affordability. This wool blanket has an attached label, "Golden Dawn Reg. U. S. Pat. Off. Luxury Quality 100% wool PREVMO TREATED - MOTH RESISTANT 11 - POLAR STAR Loomed to special specifications for J C Penney Co. Inc". Blanket is in nice condition, no bleeding nor fading of colours. Measures 74"W x 84"L.
