The lot features a late-20th Century vintage hand woven fine wool rug by a Navajo weaver in a classic Two Grey Hills Toadlena pattern. The rug exhibits hand spun and dyed soft wool hand woven rug showing a black stepped border with a grey body / background with diamond and stepped storm patterns in white / cream, maroon / dark red, red and black. Toadlena / Two Grey Hills trading post is located in northwestern New Mexico and the style was first started by George Bloomfield and Ed Davis in 1914. The rugs, like this example, show a central diamond motif surrounded by other intricate patterns with natural colors of tan, grey / gray, cream / white, black and sometimes red traditionally with a grey or light colored background. The rug is well kept with no apparent major damages or bleeding. The rug is tightly woven showing an approximate knots per square inch of 162 (18 by 9). Measures overall 43" by 28" with the fringe / tassels and 38.5" by 23.5" without.
