Presented in this lot are two Vintage Oak Leather and Brass Bound Gun Cases, circa 1910 to 1950s. The notable British firearms manufacturers located in Birmingham and London England from the 19th century into the early part of the 20th century included mahogany, oak or walnut leather wrapped guncases fitted for specific rifles or shotguns. The divided interiors are lined with green baize, a woven, felted fabric that's commonly used as a cover for gaming tables. The interior of the larger case is in nicely preserved condition, wear noted. Exterior leather straps have been replaced. Working brass lock mechanisms (key not included), leather carrying strap missing, scratches, staining and scuffing to leather from use & wear. Rich patina observed throughout tooled exterior leather, rich patina to brass corner caps and lock mechanisms. Top is stamped "J T L" around a brass cartouche on which is illegible engraving. Measures 9.5"W x 33"L x 3.5"D. Smaller case baise interior displays normal wear from use. Leather top is stamped "W E L". Right exterior leather straps and brass buckle appear to be original, weathered with patina. Left strap & buckle appear to have been replaced. Leather handle is detached from left D ring, displays rich patina. Brass corner caps, lock mechanisms, escutcheon and strap D rings exhibit rich patina. Key not included.
