For your consideration is a set of vintage Pullman and Steinmeyer ceramic jugs. The first is a rare size, old advertising stoneware crock wine jug with applied blue lettering that reads "Wm. Steinmeyer Co. Wine Merchants Milwaukee, Wis." This piece is in good condition with no cracks, and only a few small glaze flake chips appropriate with age. It measures 6 3/4" tall, 4 3/4" in diameter. The second piece is an earthenware jug made for the Pullman Company to hold a deodorizing solution. This jug held deodorizer for cleaning Pullman cars on the trains around 1900 to 1920. This beauty features a platform form, fancy molded shoulder, and cobalt stenciled advertising. The "wheat" pattern on the brown top of the jug is characteristic of one period of Western Stoneware products, making it easy to identify the manufacturer. The applied lettering reads, "Deodorizer" "The Pullman Company." It measures 9 1/2" tall, 5 1/2" in diameter.
