Featured in this lot is this vintage tanzanite diamond and 14k yellow gold ring with AIGL paperwork. The ring features a polished, stamped, and tested 14k yellow gold ring with a bright finish and shows an Orriane hallmark with a '14k' stamp next to the hallmark. The centerstone is is a oval modified brilliant cut tanzanite stone with measurements of 13.4 x 9.4 x 5.2mm and shows a violetish blue coloration and a very good cut grade and a total weight of 5.02 carats. The vintage style and center stone is profusely decorated with a total of 156 natural round brilliant cut diamonds with measurements of 1.3 - 1.7mm and shows a color gradient of H - I and a clarity of SI1 - SI2 and a total diamond weight of 2.86 carats. Tanzanite is a very rare precious gemstone that is only found in the Usumburu Mountains that border the Umba Valley of northern Tanzania. It was originally discovered in 1967 by Tiffany & Company, who named the stone Tanzanite. This example is unique due to its exceptional pleochroism (an optical phenomenon in which a stone has different colors when observed at different angles). The piece comes complete with AIGL Inc.(American International Gemological Laboratories, Inc. a GIA certified lab AIGL#: K77E87-EA14906) report and appraisal confirming the above info and giving a total value of $19,468.00. The ring size is US 7.
