George Geionety (Kiowa Comanche) was born in a tipi near Cache, Oklahoma on October 23, 1913 (died 1992). George Geionety quite possibly painted more Indian profiles than any other Native American artist. Geionety traces his artistic heritage back to the great Silverhorn. Geonety is known for attention to the detail of traditional clothes and headgear. He is also known for his Peyote ceremonial paintings. This Gouache painting of a "War Dancer" is signed in the lower right corner and dated '72. The painting is matted. The art shown measures 15" X 11 1/2"; the mat measures 21" X 17". The mat has some slight damage to it, but the art appears to be in very good condition.
