Featured in this lot is a hand knotted Persian Mashad wool area rug originating from the early 1900's. The rug features a fine detailed design, bright colors, and a tight weave. The Mashad rug is a well-known style of Persian rug that typically features a lone, oversized Shah Abbasi medallion on an elaborate background. The rugs are produced in the city of Mashad, which is located in northeastern Iran. The rug displays geometric floral patterns across the border with a single large geometric medallion at the center of the rug. The piece shows geometric designs mirrored in each corner. The rug displays colors of bright red, blue, yellow, green, orange, brown, and white. The rug has short tassels at each end (the sides are tassel free). The piece shows good condition overall and some light wear from use. The piece measures 98" wide by 137" long.
