For your consideration in this lot we have a Welch balance scale and a collection of brass weights originating from the early 20th century. The scale shows a tin scale with a cast iron base. The base shows a original tag reading "The Welch Scientific Company Welch Established 1880 7300 N Linder Avenue Skokie, Illinois U.S.A.". The scales come with a set of assorted brass weights ranging from 1 lbs to 2 g. Some of the weights come in a small carry case that is mostly empty with a few weights left with the top marked "Christian Becker Successor to Becker & Sons & Becker Bros. New-York". The scale and weights are in fair condition with the scale showing some wear across the front and one of the plates is missing its hanger, and a few of the weights show wear and rusting. The scale measures 13 1/2" tall by 10 1/2" wide and the base shows a diameter of just under 4 1/2" with the largest of the weights measuring 2 3/4" in diameter.
